Abstract


Since the late 90s of 20th century, some domestic cities have located the strategic objective of the urban development that they would set up a regional financial center. Many cities have formulated preferential policies and measures for the regional financial center and the competition was very heating for the 21th century.As the capital of Jiangsu province,Nanjing is political center, economical center and culture center. With the sustained rapid economic development in Nanjing, the financial reform has deepened gradually and the financial industry has been an unprecedented development for 30 years of reform and opening up. Finance is the core of economic activity, and is the most important part in the developed economies and developing economies. As the core of economy,the development of finance can drive economic development and economic development can promote more development of finance. There exists strong causality between economy and finance. Nanjing’s status and influence are very important whether from the national perspective or from the Yangtze River Delta. In this paper, it proceeds with financial center and investigates the situation of Nanjing financial industry and hopes that the study of Nanjing regional financial center can provide certain reference for economic development of Nanjing in the future and is propitious to form internationalized metropolis.In this paper, drawing on the writing background, it designed the ideas and research methodologies combined with all aspects of research ideas at home and abroad.Secondly, it analyzed emphatically the development of the financial industry in Nanjing status based on the theories from reforming and opening up, using a series of financial indicators. It studied the whole level of development in the financial industry in Nanjing. So there are some necessities to build a regional financial center in Nanjing.Then it analyzed the strengths and potential in Nanjing to build the regional financial center in the Pan-Yangtze River Delta by using factor analysis method and concluded the rank of potential for the formation of the regional financial center in many cities. It defined the status of the financial center in Nanjing. There are some considerable possibilities to build the regional financial center in Nanjing. To solve the problem that how to build the regional financial center in Nanjing, it used the static competitive model and dynamic cooperation model for its functional position. While Nanjing should play the central role in the region, Nanjing should strengthen the exchanges and cooperation with the other cities outside the region. This paper in the final part put forward the appropriate policy recommendations to build the regional financial center in Nanjing, combined the preceding analysis.
