Abstract


After World War II, Japan became the second largest economy in the world which was only next to the United States in just 23 years. It has created the miracle in the history of world economy and attracted worldwide attention. The financial characteristics of Japanese enterprises, especially the relationship between banks and enterprises, became the focus of the academy in the word. As the core of Japanese relationship between banks and enterprises, the main bank system formed in the special economic, cultural and historical background, and especially promoted the rapid growth of Japan’s economy. However, with the development of Japanese financial liberalization and internationalization since 1970s, the main bank system went down because of the change in the environment and its own weaknesses, and then even became a obstacle in economic development in Japan.China and Japan are friendly neighboring countries with a close trade and similar economic and cultural background. There is a great correlation between Chinese economy and Japanese economy. In the late 1970s, with the implement of reform and opening-up, China is in a restructuring period from planned economy to market economy. After 30 years of reform and development, with the high-speed economic development and continuous improvement of people’s living standards, it is very possible for china to surpass Japan to become the second economy in the world in 2010. However, there are still many problems in our country economy, for example unclear property rights, distressed debt, difficulties in small and medium enterprises financing and so on. At this time, re-examining Japan’s development experience would has a very important significance to China. It will be helpful for China to make a sustainable, stable and rapid development in Chinese economy.My paper is divided into four parts:Part two analyzes development of Japanese main bank system. Firstly I state definition and main features of this system, and then we overview development process of Japan main bank system in different phases. Third part we come to analyze performance of main bank system including the positive role in high-speed development stage and negative role in low-speed development stage.In fourth part, we compare bank-oriented financial system with market-oriented financial system. Through horizontal comparison, we analyze the advantages and disadvantages in both of them.In the last part, we forward suggestions to relationship between bank and enterprise in China. Combined with actual situation in China, we analyze the problem in the implement process of the main bank system. We should continuously perfect the laws, regulations and credit system to set up relationship between band and enterprise with Chinese characteristics.
