With the increasingly fierce international competition, talents are becoming more and more important. Social demands on talents have been greatly improved and social demands on social sports professionals are also improving with the development of social sports. Social demands on social sports professionals are no longer skills only; instead, they pay more attention to personal knowledge structure and overall quality. In this paper, by means of questionnaires, statistics, expert interviews and other methods, we have investigated the social sports students among Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing Xiaozhuang University, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Yangzhou University, Huaiyin Normal University, and Xuzhou Institute of Technology. The results of investigation and research about their basic educational level are as follows:Firstly, the educational level of social sports students in Jiangsu is not high in general, and this is against the positioning of the social sports and the requirements of the social sports students. The deviations between students’self-perception of knowledge and their mastery of knowledge are large.Secondly, social sports students in Jiangsu are equipped with better quality of literature and art, but their quality of history and philosophy are relatively weak. At the same time, the education of economic and management knowledge should also be strengthened. Students should pay more attention to the improvement of their educational level so that they can get an overall development. Therefore we think, social sports students should not only master certain professional sports skills, but also be equipped with competent humane, social, and science knowledge. By doing this one can be a qualified social sports professional who deserves social recognition.Thirdly, the reasons why the educational level of social sports students in Jiangsu is not high in general are multilateral. Studies have shown that: pre-school educational level is low; the structure of knowledge is lack of diversity; students cannot put theory into practice and combine human and natural science after school; and students’lack of the awareness to improve themselves can lead to the low educational level of social sports students in Jiangsu.In accordance with the research results, we further propose to strengthen the reform of the curriculum, give full play to the students’initiative to improve the educational entrance requirements and other measurements to improve the educational level of social sports students.
