Abstract


The thesis mainly analyzes the current state of foreign trade development, the existing problems and countermeasures for development.Foreign trade is not only one of troikas driving the economic development, but definitely one of the key ways for Henan taking the lead in rising. With the leaping development in recent years, foreign trade is still like the short leg or soft rib of Henan economy. Among all the indexes of national economy, there is a biggest gap between the foreign trade in Henan and the national average level. On such basis, the role of foreign trade in driving national economic development in Henan should be strengthened rather than weakened.The paper consists of five parts. The first part is preface introducing the study background and actual meaning, the current relevant theories and elaboration of research methodology and innovation points. The second part deals with the role & meaning of expanding foreign trade for economic and social development. The third part recalls the three phases of Henan foreign trade development since reform and opening up, and analyzes the current state of development. By adopting comparative analysis method and comparing some provinces (cities) with Henan, the fourth part analyzes the existing problems in foreign trade such as relatively small volume, the structure of exporting commodities still needs to be optimized, the development of processing trade lagging behind, unreasonable main structure of trade, relatively high level of market concentration, unbalanced regional development, importing with small scale and low level, etc., and carefully discusses the basic reasons for those problems. Toward the existing problems, the fifth part puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions in terms of further emancipating the mind, cultivating outward-looking industrial cluster and leading enterprise, adjusting the structure of exporting commodity, optimizing the main structure of trade, developing processing trade and marketing diversification strategy, promoting the balanced growth of foreign trade in city and county, expanding imports, propelling trade convenience, cultivating and absorbing foreign trade talents, perfecting the system to promote foreign trade policy services.
