Abstract

It is well knonwn that water is unsufficient in North China plain, including Huang-Huai-Hai plain. Thus, to develop water saving cultivation method could help in saving water to ensure the sustainable development of national socio-economy in Huang-Huai-Hai plain. Thus, it is important to determine the possibility of water use efficiencies under reduced water irrigation. This study was proposed to find the different effect of different water saving method on winter wheat growth when the irrigation quantity reduced 20% .The experiment has been done in Changping experimental Station of CAAS, Beijing. Seven treatments have been set: including one with normal irrigation, one with no irrigation, and the other 5 treatments with 20% reduced irrigation as compared with normal one, but with different cultivation method, including deep-cultivating, aquasorb, liquid film and other method. The growth and eco-physiological characteristics have been determined during whole growth period, including soil water content, water use efficiency, relative chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conduction, water content of lamina, fluorescence parameter, biomass accumulation, yield and yield components. The results are as following:1. As compared to the yield of normal irrigation treatment (5400 kg hm-2), the yield of reduced irrigation quantity and liquid film treatments are not influenced by the properly reduced 20% irrigation quantity. The yield of reduced irrigation quantity is 5405 kg hm-2, the yield of liquid film treatment is 5344 kg hm(-2). This result is up to our outputs and is very important for agriculture in Beijing.2. After irrigation, the soil water content of liquid in 20 40cm is 20 — 25%, the deep-cultivating and aquasorb treatments is 20 %. The liquid film treatment store enough water for the winter wheat, but the effect of aquasorb and deep-cultivating treatments are not very obvious.3. The average 20cm 40cm and 2040cm soil water content is correlated with yield (y = 283.09x +529.16, R2 = 0.3583;y = 311.6x - 1192.7, R2 = 0.6236;y = 331.58x - 914.27, R2 = 0.5416).4. Leaf relative water content of winter wheat is correlated with photosynthetic rate (y = 0.2964x - 0.886, R2 = 0.4194), transpiration rate(y = 0.1725x - 5.3722, R2= 0.5791), and stomatal conduction(y = 0.0072x - 0.1968, R2 = 0.4677), respectively.5. The chlorophyll relative content of winter wheat is correlated with yield (y = 0.0013x + 50.899, R2= 0.4588).
