Abstract

Objective: To further investigate the blood supply of the tibia and their features and evaluate the effects of the tibial blood supply caused by different operational approaches in order to support using MIPO to treat tibia fracture. Methods: 1)Through dissecting 30 adult legs, which were filled with red emulsion via the femoral artery, the main vessels of the tibia and their features were described and illustrated in detail. 2)The 15 intact tibiae of fresh human cadavers were fixed by using a 9-hole LC-DCP(limited contact compression plate)respectively. On one side(controlled group), the plate was fixed through a conventional anterior medial approach. On the other side(experimental group) ,the plate was fixed by using a minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) technique. And then polyperchloro-ethylene resin was injected into the femoral artery. After the resin was clotted, dissected the legs and topography was performed to identify the nutrient artery of the tibia. The patterns of the filling and perfusion of the injected dye in the periosteum and medullary cavity were analyzed .Results: The anatomical analysis of the tibial blood: the source of the tibial blood mainly consists of three arterial groups, the epiphyses and epiphysial and metaphyseal arteries, the tibial nutrient artery and the periosteal arteries. The feature of the tibial blood supply: the arteries in the metaphyses were significantly superior to those in the tibial shaft and the periosteum. The effects of the tibia blood supply caused by different operational approaches: the nutrient artery was damaged in the controlled
