Abstract


Objective: Oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC) is the most common malignant tumors in neck and head. The incidence tends to increase with the patients’ages dropping in recent years. The latest research findings suggests that the extracellular matric (ECM) plays an important role in the invasion and metastasis. MMP-9 can dissolve collage IV, which is the main ingredient of extracellular matrix and basement membrane, and make the tumor cells break their original sites to bring about the invasion and metastasis. Recent findings indicate CD 147, which belongs to immunogloblulin superfamily, can induce the release of MMPs in multiple ways and then help the invasion and metastasis of tumor cells. The capacity of invasion and metastasis is closely related to the capacity of CD147 to induce MMPs. At present, it is a focus research to study the invasion and metastasis of OSCC and improve the healing ratio. The profound study on the invasion and metastasis of OSCC is of theoretical and clinical value in making out reasonable and effective treating scheme, therefore, increase the survival ratio of the patients. This study explored the function and interaction of MMP-9 and CD147 in the invasion and metastasis of oral squamous cell carcinomas by the immunohistochemecal method to determine the expressions of MMP-9 and CD147 in the specimens of OSCC with some pathological references.Materials and Methods: 48 specimens OSCC embedded in paraffine in archives and normal oral mucasa tissues were chosen.
