Background : Most of studies in clinic have shown that many cardiovascular risk factors, such as II type diabetes, hypertension, lipid abnormal, et al. can coexist in one case. In 1999, a concept of metabolic syndrome (MS) was first proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO), who pointed out that all the cardiovascular risk factors collectively made up MS. It has been well documented that MS can produce negative impact on the structure and function of heart. Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is one of the earliest and most significant syndromes during the pathologic process, which can lead to heart failure ultimately. As an independent risk factor of heart disease, left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is high correlative with cardiovascular risk. To clarify the mechanism of LVH, by the end of 1990s’, most of studies were focused on the effect of hemodynamics, such as blood pressure. In recent years, however, it had been found that many other non-hemodynamics factors, including excessive fatty, carbohydrate, lipid metabolic disorders also play important roles during that process. In addition, the metabolic abnormal of cardiac muscle itself might also cause the change of cardiac structure and function. Thus, the concept of metabolism restructure has been established. In present study, to prevent and reverse LVH, many non-hemodynamics factors during the process of LVH were evaluated, respectively. These data may, in part, contribute to clarify the mechanism of LVH and reduce the mortality of heart disease. Objective: To evaluate the influence of MS on the left ventricular hypertrophy in non-diabetic hypertensive patients .
