Background and ObjictiveUlcerative colitis (chronic nonspecific ulcerative colitis) is a disease of digestive tract characterised by chronic inflammation and ulceration of colonic mucous membrane. Clinical manifestation: mucus, pus and blood stool;diarrhea; abdominal pain; tenesmus and so on. Etiopathogenisis and pathogenesis of the disease is not very clear. At present, aminosalicylic acid, cortex steroid hormone and immunomodulator is the effective western medicine. In active stage of ulcerative colitis, these medicine can quickly control the symptoms. The clinical remission rate is high. But the disease is easily recur after drug withdrawal. And side reaction is multi with long-term medication. These medicine are not ideal to intractable cases. Chinese medicine has remarkable preponderance in treating this disease and is obviously superior than weastern medicine in total curative effect.Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has made development on the research of UC in the last 20 years, both on therapy and mechanism, Traditional Chinese Medicine also show its superiority in improving quality of life, lowering recurrence rate, but there are still many problems need to be resolved, such as using method of evidencebased medicine, under the guidance of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, concluding characteristic of its Traditional Chinese Medicine syndromes, making profitable exploration and innovation. Combining with the development of modern medicine, making systematic and deep-going research, searching for its effect target, probing into its mechanism, we can adequately take advantage of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Professor Wang Xinyue my tutor who studies UC based on the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Modern Medicine, believes that simultaneous cold-heat syndromes, simultaneous occurrence of deficiency and excess syndromes anddeficiency in origin and excess in superficiality are the main characters of UC . UC is a general body disease ,not only the disease of colon. And the mechanism of UC can be summarized that deficiency in spleen and kidney is its root, its local and general pathology is characterized by blood stasis while inner ulcer is its pathologic manifestations. And food retention in stomach is its base of pathology. How to use the methods of determination of treatment based on differentiation of syndromes properly so as to improve effect of therapy and degrade relapse rate is the key point of treatment. The topic is begin with the mechanism of immunologic injury. We deeply approach the mechanism of chinese Medicine methods in treating from the aspects of regulating cellular immune function, restraining the reaction of inflammatory injury, promoting the repair of colonic mucous membrane. We deeply analyze the mechanism of repressing recur after henosis in order to offer the objective evidence of reasonably selecting the treating method
