With the development of Chinese economic, retail industry has performed asignificant role increasingly as one which connects the producer and consumers end. Sowhat impact does the financial crisis have, especially in the aftermath of crisis 2008, togrowth of retail industry. In the foresaid financial context, it is important to study thegrowth of listed retail company of china. In additional, many foreign retail enterprisesestablished the outlets in various tiers of cities in china, as retail market going maturingyear over year, interior retailing industry is challenged by foreign investors and newformats, how to survive in the challenge, which is also one of the purposes of theresearch.Firstly, the paper makes a brief review on academic studies on retail industry, retaillisted companies and business growth of the domestic and foreign scholars, also derivea preliminary summary from the researches of Chinese scholars.Secondly, in the review of the development of modern retailing, the paper hassummarized the process of Chinese retail industry, and collected 48 samples listed as astatistical analysis, including geographic distribution, size distribution, ownershipstructure, chain operation and M&A analysis, profitability, capital structure, and makesa brief statistical analysis of descriptive analysis.Thirdly, the paper selects financial statement in the latest 5 years, these are of 48listed retailing companies, and evaluates the growth of the listed companies fromprofitability, solvency, operation, development capacity, and built a model of the growthof retail companies based on the financial statement. With factor analysis to dischargeranking, and explain the results.Finally, the paper selects the two companies outperforming any other else in samplecompanies for comparative analysis. Both of them are Chongqing Department Store Co.,Ltd and Shanghai Brilliance Group Co., Ltd. Reviewing the merger and reorganizationevents of these two companies in recent years, analyzing and comparing theirprofitability, solvency, operation and development capacity, the conclusion could bedrawn that Chongqing Department Store Co., Ltd has a better result in the overallgrowth than Shanghai Brilliance Group Co., Ltd.
