Abstract


For a rapidly updating electronic consuming product, appearance is another critical factor which determines its competitiveness besides functions of the product.By using technology evolution theory, a core tool of TRIZ method, this paper is devoted to appearance innovation design of electronic consuming products. In this procedure, we also take into account related knowledge including consumer psychology and products sculpt design to investigate its appearance evolution mode and path. A set of appearance innovation design rules is summarized and an MP3 innovation design system is constructed, which can provide designer a heuristic way to realize appearance innovation design.The research work in this paper is mainly focused on the following areas:1. Researching on the theory of technology evolution based on TRIZ: By studying the TRIZ theory and analyzing the law of system evolution and 11 kinds of evolution patterns in Directed Evolution (DE),this paper discusses the feasibility of utilizing the technology evolution theory as major research tool.2. Researching on innovation design method: Based on the law of system evolution and DE, combined with consumer psychology and relevant knowledge on product modeling methodology, and by analyzing a mass of electronic consuming products appearances, seven patterns and twenty paths of evolution is summarized, which direct the general trend of product appearances. An effective heuristic method for appearances innovation design of consumer electronic product is offered to designers.3. Researching on the reasoning process of mp3 innovation design: By combining the method with cases, according to the character elements, the character information of mp3 appearance is summarized. And a reasoning process of mp3 innovation design is established based on this innovation method.4. Developing innovation design system: Based on the analysis of theory, we applied the software engineering method and developed a software for innovation design system.
