Abstract


As the environmental issue is becoming increasingly prominent in the implementation of the strategy of sustainable development, protecting the environment and maintaining ecological balance have become an inevitable choice. Information is the basis of the decision-making. Environmental information disclosure will make contributions to solving the environmental problems, optimizing resource distribution, and the smooth implementation of the sustainable development strategy. Some listed companies of heavy pollution industries begin to disclose the information of environment voluntarily, but the quality of disclosure varied and cannot meet the internal and external demanders. The systematic research into environmental information disclosure of listed companies will contribute to drive the environmental information disclosure toward standardization.The first is to define several concepts which are correlated with environmental information disclosure, then make a review about of the current research on the environmental information disclosure, and structure the frame of studying of this text on the basis of summing up present research current situation. Then on the basis of summarizing theory correlated with environmental information disclosure, and by regarding the prospectus and annual financial report of the petrochemical industry as the analytic target and carrying on an empirical research, this paper analyzes the existing problems of China’s environmental information disclosure. Finally proceeding from existing problems and combining disclosure theory, this paper puts forward the feasible suggestion and idea of perfecting the environmental information disclosure system of our country.Following the above analytical structure,the basic structure is arranged as follows.Chapter 1 is a summarization of the environmental information disclosure theories,and points out the textual shortage and the direction to be studied in the future. In Chapter 2 , we mainly analyze the academic foundation of the environmental information disclosure.Chapter 3 is mainly about the current situation and existing problems of China’s environmental information disclosure by analyzing the prospectus and annual financial reports from 2004 to 2006 of listed companies in the petrochemical industry.Chapter 4,we put forward the feasible suggestion and idea for perfecting the environmental information disclosure system of our country.
