Abstract


IntroductionThe premarital medical check - up has already carried out more than ten years in China. But the beginning of this century, the new marriage register regulation cancel the compulsory premarital medical check - up. New revised regulation carried out formally in October 1,2003. The number of premarital medical check -up is dropped rapidly. At the same time,the birth defects rate was significant trend of increasing in recent any years. Aim at these public health problem , some health experts appeal that the rates of premarital medical check - up should be raised. The recovering of premarital medical check - up system could control some infectious disease,and guarantee the birth population qualities.We inquiry into the understanding and attitudes of the new couples to the system, and the reason of giving up or choosing the premarital medical check -up. The news medium and the mother and infant health care hospital have already go on investigation and study. The result show that the public lacks the understanding to the item and meanings the premarital medical check -up, and does not accept to the high charges and the service quantity. But the study how raise effectively the voluntarily premarital medical check - up rate is still little currently. Particularly the study to the need of preparing pregnancy couples is not enough thorough.
