Abstract


Karst environment is regarded as fragile as the surrounding environment of deserts.The treatment of karst-desertification and endangered karst environment is one of the targets of globally sustainable development. The Southwest of china is the karst rock area that distributing most wide and developing most intense in the world.The problems of Karst Rock Desertification and poverty in karst environment are not only the worldwide basic issues, but also a very important factor in close of association with the sustainable development of southwest area. The rocky desert cause regional ecological environment to worsen, the land productive force declining, the water resources is scarce and regional impoverished occurrence. It called not only local government but also the central governments attention. In order to provide scientific foundation and basic data for recovering and repairing the environment in karst desertification region, it is urgent to understand the formation and evolution of karst desertification.The study selected WUJIANG river basin in CHONGQING as studied area, based on GIS and RS, acquired a three-stage spatial data in studied area, since 1988, which was established with ARCGIS software. With GIS spatial analysis tools, The rocky desertification characteristics and the changing tend in the studied area are traced and analyzed in this paper.The result indicated that:(1) With establish rocky desertification index system---information extraction---analysis of dynamic change-trend forecast---cause---suggestion on controlling rocky desertification land as the main research ideas and theoretical system. It can be as a reference and in other similar areas of land desertification and management work.(2)There are rocky desertification land in Wulong County and Fuling District. It mainly developed in the east and south-east in Fuling district, but is widely distributed in Wulong County. (3) It is very obvious that change of rocky desertification land in the study area, and deteriorating. Evolution among the various types of rock desertification is very keen. (4) The change patterns of karst rocky desertification land are divided into three kinds:simple change mode,continuous change mode,returned change mode,and characterized by simple change mode. (5) The forward and reversion evolution processes coexist, demonstrating that the situation is getting better partially and on the whole it is worsening. (6) The evolution rate of the different types rocky desertification land is inverse proportion to its degree of degradation. The rate of the moderate rocky desertification is very highest, the second is mild rocky desertification and strength of rocky desertification.It is steady in certain extent to no rocky desertification and pole strength rocky desertification. (7) The rocky desertification land will continue to increase, if maintained the rate of change from 1986 to 2004, the ecological environment continues to deteriorate. (8) The causes have the natural factor and the human factor the rocky desertification land, and the human factor is main reason. (9) According to the evolution characteristics of the rocky desertification in the study area, and puts forward the govern suggestion.
