Abstract

In the study, the composite nanofibers, the structure and characterization of which was studied using modern analytical equipment, were obtained using the multi-jet electrospinning instrument made by the labrotary that is school of Textile and Clothing, Jiangnan university. The study of electrospun polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP)/ferroferric oxide (Fe3O4) nanofibers will promote the development of composite nano-materials, and will also provide some basic understandings related to their potential applications.Fe3O4, which was fabricated by the chemical coprecipitation method, was added into 12wt% polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP)/ferroferric oxide (Fe3o4) solution with the mass fraction such as 0%,1%,2%,3%,4%,5%, which were made of six spinning solution samples with different components. The electricity conductivity and viscosity of the solutions were studied respectively with the variation mass fraction of Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The results showed that with the increase content of Fe3o4 nanoparticles, the electricity conductivity improved while the viscosity reduced. The scanning electronic microscope (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were employed to investigate the distribution of the diameter, the morphology of one specific nanofiber, as well as the dispersive state of Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the composite nanofiber, respectively. The fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and X-Ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the combined mode between PVP and ferroferric oxide, and the crystal form of the ferroferric oxide. Finally, fabric anti-static tester and AFM were used to measure anti-static performance and roughness average of the nanofiber surface of the six samples. It was observed that with the increase content of Fe3O4 nanoparticles, the diameter of the composite nanofibers was getting smaller, and the value of CV was reduced, while the Fe3O4 nanoparticles were distributed successfully inside the PVP nanofibers. In addition, it was also found that the combination between PVP and Fe3O4 was physical, which means no chemical bonds were established between them. The crystal form of Fe3O4 was favorable. The surface of nanofiber was getting rougher and the anti-static property was improved with the increase content of ferroferric oxide nanoparticles.
