With the development of electronic transformer, merged cells, intelligent circuit breaker and network communication technology, the substations process layer equipment has undergone profound changes. In particular, with the promulgation of the power industry's international standard IEC 61850 substation automation applications in depth, substation process layer device tends to digital, intelligent, model and communication protocol unification. The traditional interval layer transformer protection Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) in the correct action rate, mutual operability, communication interfaces and communication protocol compatible exposed more and more insurmountable shortcomings, has been unable to adapt to the technological changes of the process layer devices. In order to adapt to the development needs of the digital substation transformer protection IED developed in accordance with IEC 61850 standard digitized has become the inevitable trend of the current transformer protection development. In this paper, based on the IEC 61850 standard transformer protection IED hardware and software for design, to research and design new transformer protection devices meet the requirements of the digital substation communication. The the IED embedded technology, more advanced ARM DSP dual processor architecture for the hardware platform to achieve using high-performance industrial ARM9 microprocessor S3C2410A IED system management and communications functions, can meet the multi-tasking, graphical interface and IEC 61850 compliant Ethernet communications. The TMS320F2812 DSP Protection and Control Processor sampling value processing, protection algorithms and binary input and output monitoring and control functions. This paper first analyzes the transformer primary protection based on the IEC 61850 IED characteristics and functional requirements, and then focus on functional modeling and communications mapping the reference IEC 61850-5,7,8,9 the IED, and thus on this basis detail the IED hardware platform, the main circuit of the research and design of the ARM board Bootloader, transplant embedded Linux operating system and related equipment drivers to write and debug. Last received sample value (SV) of transformer protection IED process bus communication and GOOSE communication done a detailed analysis and study. This article complies with IEC 61850 standard has important theoretical significance and practical value of the communication requirements of the spacer layer IED functions and device models, and interoperability requirements, the design transformer protection IED hardware and software solutions.
