Abstract


Recent years in China, with rapid urbanization process, significantly increased the level of urbanization in China, but also, a series of urban problems. One issue of most concern is the loss of a city’s character, or otherwise, the" homogenization of cities" problem. So, all over the country in recent years, without any intent to conduct a series of urban design style transformation, the reason is that this issue has caused widespread concern. The loss of city’s character problems, there are a variety of reasons and necessity, it should be necessary reflection, we need to look at new thinking in order to study the new theory.Nowadays, Fractal theory is one of the latest theories of nonlinear science, and the fractal theory has been effectively used in studies of foreign cities . But over the years in China’s urban research urban research, particularly in the mountain, fractal theory is basically in the absence of the state. Fractal comes from the understanding of nature and the natural expression of Euclidean geometry in nature when incompetent, their nature is to further awareness of nature and nature’s grasp on the shape of things. The idea of fractal theory and practice in foreign countries have proved the ability to conduct studies of urban form. The mountain city and the natural environment more closely than the plain city, from the related theory and practice can be seen that the same fractal theory can be used in the city of mountain.In this paper, fractal theory to the mountain city of shape, especially along the river facade form of quantitative knowledge and design can be quantified means of control are discussed, the first and summarized at home and abroad of fractal theory in urban design research in the field situation, to find the fractal theory on the cognitive role in support of the city confirmed that fractal theory can be used in understanding the urban morphology, while seeking to fractal theory research methods used in urban form. Fractal theory put forward for further understanding and control of urban aboriginal urban form design methods and strategies.This paper also proposed fractal method is applied to several of the principles of urban studies, emphasizing both qualitative and quantitative research need, and fractal methods of thinking and its supporting role.In this paper, a series of documentation and research was concluded, the corresponding solutions will be proposed to take advantage of the fractal approach to urban design thinking.Through research, this paper focuses on the following issues:1) The availability of fractal theory to urban studies.2) The fractal theory of urban design with the current complement.3) The fractal theory of cognitive methods mountain cities.4) The fractal theory of urban design control methods and strategies.5) The fractal theory in urban design study of the main problems and prospects.This look used by fractal mountain city of knowledge and design research, research methods to the development of the existing play a supplementary role in the ongoing practice of mountain city update provides limited help.
