Abstract

Steel Reinforced Concrete (SRC) structure is applied increasingly to the structures of modem architecture, especially in the complicated high-rise architectural structures, long span structures and bridges. H-section steel normally works together with concrete in SRC components. However, concrete cracks is an important factor affects the H-section steel and concrete cooperative working capacity. So it is necessary to carry out effectively study of how to suppress the cracks of the H-section steel beam. The major content of this paper includes the following parts:(1) The paper introduces the characteristics and development and research status of SRC structure, briefly, as well as finite element analysis method, especially for the disposal of the concrete cracks in the finite element analysis method.(2) It establishes a series of similar specimens of SRC finite element model with rivet or not, and carry out the finite element analysis on the crack development. The major effects of the rivet for the resultant carrying capacity between the finite element analysis and experiments is revealed. Furthermore, it studied the effects of the different parameters, such as rivet spacing, hoop spacing and reinforced bar area.(3) In order to affirm the feasibility of the finite element analysis model for SRC, the paper establishes finite element models with the same parameters of the test SRC beams, and the cracks development is studied and the differences between the numerical simulation results and the experiment results is conducted. It is concluded that the influence of the shear connection (rivet) on the bearing capacity, deformation and cracking load is not obviously. However, it can effectively control the cracking width. ANSYS can relatively accurately simulate the cracking process of the SRC beams and get the cracking load, which are consistent with the experiment results.
