With the advent of the information age, especially since the nineties of the last century of the Iraq war, modern warfare has evolved into the \Modern warfare has entered the information age. Information has become the trend of today's military development. Been widely used in military activity, military simulation, virtual battlefield environment, computer online military exercises. The face of a new revolution in military affairs, the traditional paper maps the way geographic information is increasingly difficult to meet the needs of the military activities. Therefore, based on MATLAB and VRML try to generate a three-dimensional model of the system, the development and use of paper-based military contour map, through the study of three-dimensional reconstruction of a paper map, and to lay the foundation for the development of subsequent electronic sand table. The first contour map three-dimensional reconstruction theory are discussed. Map three-dimensional reconstruction, there are two ways: First, the use of human map redraw layered; using aerial photographs with the elevation information for the two-dimensional display. However, both methods work large or expensive, and difficult to promote. So some of the graphics processing workers put forward a program of the three-dimensional reconstruction of a printed map. The idea is that the first paper map scan a 256-color grayscale or full color bmp map, and then its VC or Delphi development software, extract supplement off after stratification, vectorization, gridded Finally, get a realistic three-dimensional topographic map. This study is also based on this idea. Hierarchical extraction of contour lines, for lack extract based on the H component of the HIS color model, this paper presents the the joint extraction methods based on the H and S component; vectorized contour vectorization for classic the lack of terrain contour method requires refinement using a vectorization method based on circle track automatically adapt; contour gridded the split of the grid, the interpolation method and error analysis discussed. Secondly, the above theoretical research based on MATLAB and VRML as a tool for the development of a the military contour map of the three-dimensional reconstruction system. The system can generate three-dimensional contour map of papery military model. The system was developed based on OOP (object-oriented programming) thinking, the use of a modular design. This article describes the modular structure of the system, the workflow module and related functions of the program flow. Demonstrates and describes the relevant considerations. The subject of research for promoting the construction of military information, certain practical significance to enhance the combat effectiveness of troops. Generated three-dimensional model of the system can be used for military training, simulated combat and operational command.
