Abstract


Software size estimation based on software project planning and estimation of risk is one of the biggest risk in the project, the software size estimation has been one of the key topics of software engineering research. Since function point estimation method since the 1970s, has been formed to IFPUGFPA method MK II method and COSMIC-FFP method represented by a variety of standards. COSMIC-FFP method is a new generation of function point size estimation method, COSMIC-FFP method the software system processing is divided into two major categories of data movement and data computing, and data movement is subdivided for input, output, read, write four seed type, and by the number of types of data of the four seed mobile computing system to measure the size of the software. UML is currently the most popular software modeling language. It has been studied the COSMIC-FFP method based on UML, but those methods either do not have a detailed definition of the calculation rules, or only in demand late in development. In order to be able to accurately estimate software size fast early in the project, in-depth study of the advantages and disadvantages of the COSMIC-FFP method, and based on the experience of eight software companies to promote the practice of the method proposed in this research topics: UCD -FFP (Use Case Driven-FFP) method. This method has the following advantages: 1. UCD-FFP method based on the Use Case model, not dependent on class diagrams, sequence diagrams and activity diagrams can be used when the customer demand, suitable for early estimate software size of the project; UCD-FFP method calculation principles and calculation rules COSMIC-FFP method unified divided for three types of rules: the adequacy rules, the need for rules, heuristic rules and strategies using these three rules to improve to estimate the efficiency; 3. UCD-FFP detailed definition of the method based on the Use Case model cited above three types of rules, reducing dependence business background knowledge of the estimator, to improve the accuracy of the estimated rate. This article briefly discusses the history of the function point method, the traditional function point analysis methods with the principle of the COSMIC-FFP method, processes, calculation rules and the advantages and disadvantages of this basis, discussed between the Use Case COSMIC-FFP method concept mapping relations, listed in detail the three UCD-FFP method calculation rules, and course registration system is given a detailed calculation method based on the UCD-FFP for instance, the last the UCD-FFP method promotion a summary and next prospect.
