Abstract


Photonic crystals are periodic electromagnetic band gap structure and function of materials, characterized by a photonic band gap . The photonic crystal organic lasers , the application of photonic crystal photonic band gap control the propagation of light in the device , improving the performance of laser feedback to reduce the lasing threshold of the laser . Theoretical calculations , the main application of the plane wave expansion method the energy band structure of the photonic crystal slab , through the analysis of the energy band structure is expected frequency range of the device will feedback ; in device fabrication , selection of to Si substrate SiO 2 < / sub> for the photonic crystal slab of the substrate Si 3 N 4 , using vacuum thermal evaporation method and the organic gain material deposited onto the surface of the photonic crystal slab , prepared with different organic gain layer thickness of organic photonic crystal distributed feedback laser; device characterization , the output wavelength of 325nm continuous helium-cadmium laser as the pump light source , the test device lasing characteristics, including its lasing spectrum , the threshold curve , divergent angle. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the organic gain layer thickness of 450nm , the optimal lasing characteristics of the device , the lasing peak width at half maximum of 0.6nm , the lasing threshold is only 0.5kW/cm 2 < / sup > , the divergence angle of approximately 4 ° .
