Abstract

Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora L.) is a beautiful evergreen tree native to southeastern North America. As an important landscape trees, Magnolia trees and is widely used in landscaping. Shuzi polymorphic its beautiful dark green leaves, thick leathery possessed shiny, white flowers and fragrant aroma characteristic has been the garden workers of all ages. At present, foreign countries have elected more than 80 cultivars and through asexual reproduction in horticulture began commercial production. Despite the introduction and cultivation of Magnolia China has 100 years of history, is now the cities south of the Yangtze River and widely cultivated, but currently only reported one cultivar and can not be used in commercial production. Magnolia has been propagated by seed-based, and not currently on the market that can be used cultivars, so now in the process of selecting seed breeding new cultivars has great potential for development. As the market for diverse cultivars and their asexual reproduction technology requirements increase, the subject on the Magnolia cultivar selection and vegetative cuttings technology research. Test in Changsha, Hunan Province and nearby areas, the experimental results are as follows: (1) Based on the Magnolia tree and morphological features have been shortlisted two cultivars: Bixia Magnolia magnolia flowers and large Lunhe. \To further identify these two cultivars and their similarities and differences with Magnolia, the present study by two cultivars of Magnolia leaves for paraffin producers to observe the anatomical and epidermal anatomy, draw their leaves lower epidermis surface structure, stomatal density and size, trichome density and size, and there are differences in leaf structure, thereby further identified two new cultivars. (2) Magnolia branches inserted through asexual cuttings. Propagation time is better for hardwood cuttings in November, when the stem growth decreased activity and for the winter storage has enough nutrients. Secondly June twig cuttings Magnolia is more feasible approach, and in March and August are relatively unsuitable for cuttings Magnolia. Magnolia cuttings cuttings rooting hormone treatment will be required to obtain better results. Cuttings by potassium IBA 20g / L after treatment, and the rooting rate of up to 70.8%. In November, the processing potassium concentration of IBA from 10-20g / L can promote Magnolia cuttings adventitious roots; processing potash NAA concentration from 5-20g / L on the impact of adventitious roots cuttings with IBA similar potash (rooting rate gt; 50%), but without its obvious. IBA and NAA Magnolia cuttings can increase the incidence of adventitious roots. However, rooting hormone potassium status relative to other carriers will better promote the production of adventitious roots, because potassium status can be directly soluble in water without the need to use alcohol solubilization. Quality and rooting rooting rate is basically the same trend. (3) through the Magnolia stems and roots cutting cross section of the anatomy of observation, the results show that the adventitious roots Magnolia cuttings in the form of bark-and callus rooting rooting rooting type both the integrated type. In future studies, we should both induce the occurrence of adventitious Magnolia and improve the cuttings rooting rate and root quality. Meanwhile, the study results can also be applied to other Magnoliaceae species studies.
