A plenty of evidences have revealed that free radical initiated per-oxidation of membrane lipids is associated with a variety of pathological events. Both natural and synthetic chain-breaking antioxidants have been used to protect membrane lipids from per-oxidation by scavenging peroxyl radical and interrupting free radical chain reactions. In the thesis, we make membranes of erythrocytes attacked by free radicals generated in the aqueous phase by thermal decomposition of water-soluble azo compounds, 2,2– azobis (2- amidino- propane) dihydrichloride (AAPH), to induce lipid per-oxidation and eventually cause hemolysis. Since easily controlled and measured, the method provides a good approach for studying the anti-oxidation on membrane damaged by free radical, including, glucide cop- 3b, dl-α- tocopherol (VE), Ginsenoside Re, and panax ginseng (R) and their effects on each other.Because VE, Re and R are insoluble in water, in the experiment, they were dispersed in dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) vesicles by sonication to be transferred onto membrane surface. From the experiment, it can be get that panax ginseng(R) is obviously anti-oxidant and acting with vitamin E together, panax ginseng(R) has been decreased its effectiveness largely. In a word, they have no antioxidant synergism.
