Abstract


Intellectual production, which is compared with material production, plays an irreplaceable part in the social production. As a vital aspect in the theory of total production, intellectual production is the essential reason and premise for the total and free development of man. The existence of intellectual production is to satisfy man’s total requirements for the reason that requirements of man are total. The internal purpose of intellectual production is that it will prevent the unbalanced development of man in the pure material production so that it stands for the level of freedom. Man’s requirements reflect the conditions of both material and intellectual. The intellectual requirements are the signs to distinguish man and animal. The aspiration for mental life roots in a kind of internal power of man’s liberation. Intellectual production is a basic way for man to practice so that it boosts man’s development by raising the internal quality of science, art, morality etc. During the development of human society, intellectual production in different historical condition has different features and contributions. In the condition of socialism, the rule of "putting people first" should be persistent in intellectual production in order to promote man’s development. To respect people is the responsibility of intellectual producers. The maximum of development of intellectual production is the premise of Communism.
