Abstract


General Semantics is the study of the theory and the semantic relationship born reached its peak in the 1930s , fifties and sixties . The semantics become an independent discipline was just a decade after the formal establishment of the theory , the general semantics can be regarded as one of the pioneers of modern semantic study . Study of this school is not only to help us learn from history, to seek useful inspiration of modern life , but also have a positive effect traced back the origin of the modern semantics research and theoretical base and a sound theoretical system semantics . This paper argues that the general semantics of its post - semantic research on the objectives, content and methods . This paper attempts to talk about from the past lives of General Semantics , combing the historical process and theoretical contexts , and ferret out its theoretical core , to come to the core and essence of the school and its semantic study three representative theory - structural semantics , generative semantics , and cognitive semantics from the comparative study of the three aspects of the research objectives , research and research methods , exploration of its intrinsic association , to arrive at the conclusion of this article : general semantics of its post- semantic research have a certain influence on the research objectives, content and methods .
