Abstract


The southern strategy was proposed by the American republican party first, which has played a very important role in the electoral politics post-war.(To make the article concise and to unify academic term with foreign scholars, if the author discusses the southern strategy in the text, the word of campaign will not be especially emphasized.) The Southern strategy will be widespread concern in each U.S. presidential electoral year, Nixon’s southern strategy is the most important one of all the southern-strategies. With the implementation of the southern strategy to bring political rewards, Nixon re-election succeeded in 1972. The success of Nixon’s southern strategy greatly encouraged other republican presidential candidates’passion to use the electoral strategy. They have launched their own southern strategies one by one, which profoundly affected the post-war American society. This thesis plans to start with the beginning and implementation of Nixon’s southern strategy ,then to deeply analyze the historical background, specific content and impact of Nixon’s southern strategy, it is hoped that this thesis can provide some references for other studies on the U.S. politics.
