Abstract

Objective:This study includes theory research and experimental study. The experimental study aims to study the pharmacodynamics of xiang-yan-zhi-tong decoction in primary dysmenorrheal therapy, we observed the pain-releasing effects of xiang-yan-zhi-tong decoction on oxytocin-induced mouse and rat dysmenorrheal models, and changes of PGE2 and PGF2a content in rat peripheral blood and uterus tissues, which will provide the pharmacological basis for clinical application of xiang-yan-zhi-tong decoction.Theroy research aims to assess the clinical effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in the treatment of dysmenorrheal. Methods:In the experimental study,we used diethylstilbestrol and oxytocin-induced mouse and rat dysmenorrheal models with aspirin as control, and observed the roles of xiang-yan-zhi-tong decoction in releasing oxytocin-induced pain and its effects on PGE2 and PGF2╬▒expression in rat peripheral blood and uterus tissues. As for the theory research,we electronically searched CNKI(1999-2008),Wanfang Database(1999-2008), Vipdatabase (1999-2008) and CBM (1999-2008). Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) were included.Study quality was evaluated by two researchers independently.Revman4.2 was used for meta-analysis. Results:xiang-yan-zhi-tong decoction significantly inhibited the pain reactions in mice and rats induced by oxytocin. The content of PGE2 increased obviously in rat peripheral blood and uterus tissues, while PGF2adecreased significantly. TCM group showed better effectiveness.Conclusions:xiang-yan-zhi-tong decoction could raise pain threshold and change the secretion of PGE2 and PGF2a.It has anti-dysmenorrheal roles. The evidence is still weak due to the poor quality and a small number of included studies.
