Abstract


Water quality is closely related to people’s daily lives. Therefore, to perceive water quality at any time is particularly important. However, in the process of rapid development of productive forces, there are some hidden or unexpected water pollution events sometimes happening. In the past, manual monitoring of water quality was used, but it was relatively slow. Remote sensing of satellite has not been able to replace the traditional methods for its low accuracy. With the development of wireless sensor network technology and wireless communication technology, a growing number of sensors are used in water quality monitoring. Remote monitoring technology, which is based on wireless measurements, becomes the trend of water quality monitoring. Water transparency is one of the most important factors of evaluating water quality. However, most transparency measuring instruments are designed for on-site or lab applications, they can’t meet the need of wireless sensor networks and the long-term work requirements in the water environment. Thus, transparency sensors have become the major constraint to remote monitoring of transparency.To meet the needs of remote measurement of water transparency, this paper established a model of Tai Lake’s water transparency and derived a transparency formula, which is based on Tai Lake’s water-related data analysis and research. By simplifying the steps and re-design of measurement instruments, this paper designed a wireless sensor of Tai Lake’s water transparency. That is the most important innovation and design difficulty of this paper.Furthermore, to promote the measuring efficiency of transparency of Tai Lake, this paper designed a remote monitoring system of water transparency which was based on the designed transparency sensors. The wireless networks which consist of sensor nodes send their data to the gateway nodes, and then the gateway nodes deliver the data to the server by GPRS. In this way, a ZigBee and GPRS-based remote monitoring system of transparency was founded. PCs can monitor the water transparency by accessing the servers via Internet. To ensure communication stability of the sensor node network, this paper implements a protocol based on forwarding mechanism. This is one of the difficulties of this article. In the design of the gateway node, the software of ZigBee module, a wireless receiver, was designed with a fast receiving method which is based on movement of pointer to avoid copying data and shorten the response time. This is a highlight of the paper.Practice shows that measurement by wireless sensor is accurate, hardware and software are stable and reliable, the system runs well. The remote measurement designed in this paper make up the disadvantage of the traditional and remote sensing measurements and provides a new and feasible method for remote measurement. The remote monitoring system of transparency provides timely and accurate information to environment monitoring department. Meanwhile, it promotes the efficiency of transparency measurement and improves the lever of Tai Lake’s water transparency measurement as a whole.
