Abstract


Under the influence of the sustainable development strategy, the reusing and exploiting of old building is one of the major means of renovating during the process of development. It is better for environment protection and historical heritage to rebuilding them up again than the way of pulling them down.We are at a top speed of economic increasing; the scale of cities is expanding rapidly and a great number of old buildings are to be rebuilt. Nevertheless, our country has just started the study of old buildings reform. We have a longer way to go in technology, design and the guidance of policy than that in developed countries. We always neglect the potential values of old buildings in old cities. The behaviors of building destroying and rebuilding do damage to the history and culture of a city. That also makes them lose their original features in the proceedings of modernization drive, which causes unrecoverable loss . So it is critically essential that we should carry out the researches on old buildings proper reuse. And I suggest that the work should be the most important task of all the builders in the future.My paper will give a general idea about a discussion on how to make best use of the advantages and discard the disadvantages upon the old buildings, and how to develop the positive factors and abandon the negative factors in order to attain the goal of balance on dialectical unity of conquering and inheriting. Through analyzing the present condition and present condition the old building’s reconstruction in our and other country, the research focuses on how reconstruction influence the reality meanings of human beings, function extension and ecology protection. Taking Stock Warehouse Gate as a successful example this thesis analyzes the plan of reconstruction Stock Warehouse Gate. In this plan historical heritage was left but the anti-development part was discarding. I also advocate that some old buildings such as Stock Warehouse Gate departed from the times as well as the development of society. So we should change them to fit the development of times.
