Abstract


Objective: To decrease the complication rate and increase success rate, modified the surgical procedure of paratopic small bowel transplantation (SBTx) in mice Methods: Under the operational microscope, donor intestinal graft was harvested along with vascular pedicles, and the graft portal vein and superior mesenteric artery were anastomosed with inferior vena cava and infrarenal abdominal aorta respectively. The distal end of the intestinal graft was connected to the proximal jejunum of recipient in an end-to-side way, whereas the proximal end of the graft was closed by ligation. Results: The successful rate of the initial 58 cases of murine SBTx was 37.9%, whereas that for the final 94 cases was 81.9%.The average duration of the donor procedure was 60 10min and the average cold storage time for the graft was 20 5min , the graft revascularization took 20 to 25 min. Conclusion: The technique of murine small bowel transplantation with internal drainage which was introduced into the surgical procedure induced the decrease of the postoperative complication rate and the increase of the success rate.On the other hand, these results demonstrated that the excellent Carrel’s Patchs which were anastomosed with infrarenal abdominal aorta caused a low vascular anastomotic complication rate and a high success rate.
