Abstract


Objective :To investigate the relationship of elderly psychology health and subjective well-being in Macao; and further to analyze its influential factors. The purpose is to offer some evidence for the government and social organization in making elderly facilities. It is a meaningful topic no matter for society, family or elderly itself.Methods:504 elderly people aged 60 or more were collected from Macao area on January to March 2004. 294 people of aged under 70, 168 people of aged 70-79, and 42 people of aged 80 or above. Investigation tools were adopted questionnaire: 1. Questionnair of General Life. 2. SCL-90 and 3. MUNSH (Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness). Data analyzed by SPSS 11.5.Results:1. Most of age people felt happy in their lives, the average score of MUNSH was 26.9+10.4 (2-48). The mean score of SCL-90 was 0.95+0.58. 2. The scores of positive emotion and affective are higher than the score of negative emotion and affective, these results shows that the elderly are satisfied their later lives. 3. Age, number of children, marital status, economic status, culture status, people relationship had correlation with elderly psychology health except sex and occupation. 4. They had coefficients relation between the scores on both scales (SCL-90, MUNSH). It indicated that the score of Well-being will directly influence the result of elderlypsychology health.Conclusion:1. Elderly Subjective well-being is highly influence psychology health.2. The community should pay attention on bringing up the positive emotion of age people; organize and develop various activities and promote education of health care are necessary.3. For improving elderly subjective well-being, we should do more studies on the aging psychology health.
