Abstract


The advances about catalytic distillation technology and several types of distillation columns were introduced briefly. The research actualities on catalytic distillation hydrolysis of methyl acetate .the types of catalysts and the way packed with catalyst in the column were reviewed.their advantages disadvantages are clarified.the kinetics of hydrolysis of methyl acetate over 701 strong acids gel ion exchange resin was studied. It was proved that it is the second class reaction. The effects of reaction temperature, catalyst loading and the different mole ratio of water to methyl acetate in feed were investigated.the catalytic activities of several different types of catalysts were compared. A reaction kinetic equation for describing the hydrolysis of methl acetate was gained. Developing catalytic distillation columns for hydrolysis of methyl acetate reaction, their advantages are large volume packed of catalysts, not leaking easily, replacing conveniently and so on. It was proved that they had good coupling of reaction and separation course and adjustion easily. The new technology of hydrolysis of methyl acetate reaction can simplify procedure and improve operational behavior. Meanwhile, the catalytic hydrolysis of methyl acetate was studied in small-scale and middle-scale experiments and found optium operation condition. Energy conservation and low consumption was evident (4t vapors/t PVA) proved by experiments, and this paper also pointed to datum and industrial condition of hydrolysis of <WP=5>methyl acetate reactions.
