Abstract


New network technologies, products and various kinds of network construction mode are constantly emerging. The scale and structure of network are getting more and more complicated and diversified. How to visually show the network topology in an accurate and clear way to the network administrator become a significant research subject in both topology area and network administration area.Firstly, current four types of visualization technology have been researched and analysised in this paper. And then a model of network topology visualization has been set up. Secondly, Weaknesses and strengths in implementing these types of topology are summarized after a research and analysis of classic visualization layout algorithm is made. Improvement and refinement of the traditional tree topology algorithm is made after analyzing the features and problems of the classic topology algorithm and the procedures of the algorithms are introduced.Then, this paper designs a visualized topology system and gives a specification of the system’s main frame and functions. Finally, a visualized topology system is implemented combining the improved tree topology algorithm and the traditional ray-type topology algorithm, a demonstration experiment is presented by operating a specific visualized topology and it shows that this visualization topology system is able to make a good visualization of a network topology.
