Abstract


With the continuous advance of the process of urbanization, information related to urban location is growing exponentially. Frequent updates of such information make people’s demand for accurate and timely map information increasingly strong. Fortunately, profited from the dramatic development of various Internet-related techniques, Geographic Information System no longer relies on traditional GIS techniques. There is a large amount of open and sharable map service on the internet. Using open map service API to develop map service applications has become an efficient method.The paper designs and implements the City Map Service System based on MapABC map service API. To satisfy people’s demand for urban geographic information, the system provides map browsing, geographic information querying, traffic information querying and other service. After an in-depth analysis on common characters of this developing method, the paper presents a design idea of the general map service component. By researching key issues such as the component’s resource management, the component’s communication and the conversion of the heterogeneous data exchange format, the paper designs and implements the component based on.NET platform. In a windows-based system that includes map service applications, it can speed up the development schedule, reduce the cost and improve software developing efficiency by calling this component.
