With the development of the human society, the material civilization is becoming higher and higher, the human to obtain from the nature more and more, which leading to the land, energy, and resources are exhausted serious situation and the ecological balance has been seriously damaged. Natural disaster and man-made disasters occur repeatedly and worse, causing the great threat for human. 9.0 earthquakes occurred in Japan March 11, 2011, and then the earthquake caused 6-meter-high tsunami. At the same time, the nuclear power plants were subjected severely by the damage of earthquake. But Japanese have the strong sense of disaster, which inseparable from the disaster education these years. Therefore, the education of the disaster is becoming important. Although natural disasters are inevitable, human can make the decision to minimize the extent of disaster when facing them. Predicting the occurrence of disasters, forming the awareness of disaster prevention, response to the disaster timely and disaster assessment and reconstruction is particularly important. While the traditional geographical teaching media show students the rich of the teaching content some extent. But the students are just blind to watch and rote memory. Geographic information system has larger information, stronger space, richer analysis and speeder update. For the study of geography teaching in particular the study of the disaster provides a wealth of information resources, which to meet the wide and space of geography subject curriculum and more convenient and more intuitive to learn played a good role. It adapted to the requirements of basic education curriculum reform.It is necessary to apply geographic information system to disaster education. Geographic information system software operation can enhance the mastery of basic knowledge (the concept of natural disasters, type, external characteristics, causes and internal rules distribution rule hazardous, general measures).While processing the image before and after the disasters of the remote sensing satellite to make the extent of disaster clearly. Aware of the devastating of disasters can enhance the student sense of disaster prevention. Assuming the student face the natural disasters, and use the geographic information system technology of virtual reality, inquire, learn some emergency response strategy.It is feasible to apply geographic information system to disaster education. It is consistent with the current educational theory. The development of information technology provides the possibility for disaster education. Development of the Internet and the acquisition remote sensing satellite images freely provide us for teaching resources. Professional GIS software is getting into secondary school geography teaching. There are many schools that can meet the hardware and software of GIS technology will be introduced to the need for disaster education.The article is an example for high school geography curriculum standard of five"Natural Disaster and Prevention", with the GIS into the teaching process. Because the geographic information system has larger information, stronger space, richer analysis and speeder update, can consolidate the students master the basic knowledge of disaster, form a good sense of disaster prevention and master the skills to escape the various disasters. The introduction of GIS operation increase the visibility and interaction compared to the traditional of geography. This teaching method increases student interest in learning and has bright prospects.
