The author discusses the background and significance of developing the database system in Liaohe Oilfield and analysis the platform and technology used in the production run of it. The system, which is already applied in Liaohe Oilfield Company, is set up on the basis of studying the planning and realization of its structure.In this paper, the writer made a survey of the operation process and condition of Liaohe Oilfield Production and Management Department. The data environment and demand analysis of setting up the basic data system is discussed.The writer also analyzed the current operating condition of the subordinate enterprises of CNPC, and, on such a basis, put forward the idea of building a basic data system using the popular client/server structure, the ORACLE(8i、9i), and the PowerBuilder 10. The writer illustrated establishing the developing principle based on the major nature of the basic data system, and set a secondary applying structure that includes the operating unit and the decision-making unit. The operation mode is illustrated on the basis of a operation process structure that directs the data flow and the working condition. In the end of the paper, the author, based on the effects of practicing the system in Liaohe Oilfield, explains the method and process of putting it into practice and illustrates the results of its application.It turns out that the designing and utilizing of the database system plays a significant part in advancing the informatization of Liaohe Oilfield’s production and management.
