Abstract


In current, Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) is a widely used data management technique in information system development, such as Oracle’s Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM’s DB2, Sybase’s Sybase, Mysql and so on. Because its function is very complete, it takes a lot of system resources and result in poor performance, it is very expensive.Object-oriented Database System (OODBS) is combined product of object-oriented programming technology and database technology’s. Its main feature is object-oriented technology’s encapsulation and inheritance, and improves software’s reusability. OODBS emphasizes advanced programming language seamlessly connect with database, but this technology is not mature. OODBS’s development is just a prototype, its reliability, cost, etc. is also unsatisfactory, and the market is very small now.To solve above problem, this paper proposes a theory—Object-oriented Database based on Relational Database System (ROODBS). ROODBS use XML documents to storage external data, and basis of relational database theory put forward highly efficient and stable OODBS method. XML is a simple data storage language, XML documents’advantage is that simple, take up less system resources, can seamlessly connect with the majority of application development tools and so on. ROODBS do not take any system resources almost and improve development efficiency and system stability greatly, and can save database’s costs, reduce development cost.Office Automation System of Northeast Normal University Remote and Continuing College (RCCOAS) is a management system that our school Remote and Continuing College is using, it is developed by the .NET Framework platform. This article research ROODBS used on RCCOAS, Introduction ROODBS Implementation process under .Net Framework platform.
