Abstract

Since the reform and opening up, the foreign trade of Guangdong and Zhejiang Provinces have developed very rapidly, which play a more and more important role in the whole country. But the two provinces have different foreign trade development modes .The Comparative Study of new features of foreign trade patterns of these two Provinces and the analysis of the features, the different causes and the problems of two patterns, provide important experiences for the foreign trade development of other provinces. At the same time, a SWOT analysis and an empirical analysis of the social-economic effects of the two provinces, as well as their own experiences, based on which the optimal path of sustainable development of the two Foreign Trade modes achieves, has a certain practical significance.Based on an integrated classical theory of trade patterns and the existing research, the paper will use a variety of research methods, such as graphical analysis, regression analysis, SWOT analysis and comparative analysis. According to comparative analysis of the different features of the two foreign trade modes.the study,it shows that Guangdong Province is external-force mode with foreign-invested enterprises as the main body, processing trade as the main method.,while Zhejiang is an internal-driven mode with general trade accounting for the main body and consisting mainly of private enterprises. So far, there are some contradictions and problems in the development of foreign trade in both Provinces. Low level of product structure , low added value of trade are low, and the lack of technological innovation are their common problems.It uses the SWOT analysis to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of Guangdong and Zhejiang’s foreign trade. The empirical analysis also shows that Guangdong and Zhejiang’s are different in the trade surplus, export earnings, contribution to regional GDP, etc.,meaning different socio-economic effects between two different foreign trade development modes . Under he existing development and mode of foreign trade, Guangdong and Zhejiang province should make full use of comparative advantages of existing industries and products, as well as understand shortcomings,and learn from each other to accelerate the technological upgrading of export industries ,to combine foreign investment attracting , introduction of advanced technology with upgrading regional industrial structure effectively .They need to improve the traditional labor-intensive export products technical content and added value, increase technological innovation, and constantly strengthen their international competitiveness.
