Abstract


Network with a wealth of information resources, friendly interactive performance and excellent characteristics becomes more and more favorable, and the distance education on network has become the hotpot in modern education field. With the rapid development of computer network technology and digital technology, distance education has been entered the stage of digital, intelligent and personalized. The new network technology provided more channel to delivering the newest teaching information and knowledge. In recent years, with the rising demand of the media information, people no longer satisfied with the mode of just simple text, browsing and downloading, but need for real-time interaction to carry the video and audio information resources.Nowadays the application of streaming media technology and distant education technology is one of the hotspot .Currently, most of the countries, especially the western developed countries, all attach great importance to the development of distant education. In China research and development on distant education is operated more lately than the above countries, but more rapidly. As distant education, especially multimedia education, involves streaming video transmission on the network, and the network condition right now is still not ideal for this transmission, thus how to resolve these problems becomes the work of the paper.On the basis of the existing streaming media technology and analysis the development and characteristics of distant education system, combine with the integrated, easy-to-use, easy-maintenance and etc. The system is based on the Microsoft’s Windows Media technology solutions and main on the application of ASP technology and SQL Server technology to achieve the dynamic web management, courseware online player, courseware query and the ID management etc.Entire system architecture to a web servers, streaming media servers and database servers on the basis of multi-storey structure, allows the system have strong universal ,compatibility and workability, and each layer can complete their specific roles and functions. Among them, the web servers is the realization of a central control system, the main function of web servers is main to release the teaching information, responsible for the registration application and validate the user identity. At one time the web servers should select the media servers and media files according to the request of the user.For the media servers, at the time of teacher to record the courseware or courseware-real-time on broadcast, it main work is to collect real-time video, audio and screen information, compress these data and transfer them into media file. And then to establish the network interface between the client and media servers, make sure the client can receive the media files.This paper also focus on the technology of making the streaming media courseware and synchronization. As a result, we can use the Windows Media Encoder to record the teaching scene, capture the screen, audio and video, and achieve the self-made courseware can synchronization with the PowerPoint document.
