Abstract


Turbine generator rotor winding ground fault is a relatively common generator failure . This paper summarizes the main types of synchronous generator electrical fault . Specific analysis to understand the causes of the failure of the rotor winding is shorted to ground and detection methods . Then asked the two commonly used and mature rotor earth fault protection principle : ping-pong switching ground fault protection with injection rotor ground protection . Excitation winding ground fault can not be detected when the generator is in the idle or shutdown for the ping-pong ground protection is proposed to inject a DC voltage to the excitation winding , and switching circuit connected to the voltage at both ends of the improved scheme , gives the principle of the program and the protection of the Criterion , grounding resistance calculation methods , switching circuit element parameters and switching cycle selection . Simulation results show that the improved accuracy and sensitivity of the program to meet the actual operation needs . Combined with the actual situation of 1000MW generators , this paper also discusses the a 1000MW generator sets to the rotor earth fault protection difficulties and propose a solution . Finally, through the simulation analysis of the ping-pong switching grounding protection program given argument , that it meets the actual requirements .
