Abstract


Language rigid \Rigid phenomenon has aroused the attention of many scholars in the field of applied linguistics, but domestic and international research in this area is mostly concentrated in the level of inquiry and analysis of the rigid theory, little empirical investigation, especially for rigid overcome and resolve the less mentioned further in-depth study of this phenomenon has important theoretical and practical significance. The rigid foreign language learning in a common phenomenon, but also the problems to be solved. Vocational education is an important part of higher education in China, but time-consuming and inefficient \For the shortcomings of existing research results, the actual survey a comprehensive understanding of the fossilization of vocational students learning English, really figure out the reasons for the formation of a rigid phenomenon, put forward specific measures to break through the rigid phenomenon targeted. I start from the analysis of English Teaching vocational colleges, pointed out the importance and necessity of rigid phenomenon survey, then 12 classes of 480 vocational students in Hunan Mechanical and Electrical Engineering 2004, 2005, 2006 all grades selected as the research object, an empirical study. The survey questionnaires, combined with the interview. The two questionnaires used in the survey: 1. Vocational students' English learning rigid distribution survey, mainly related to three aspects: 1) the rigid time; 2) rigid area; 3) rigid distribution. Vocational students learning English the Fossilization cause investigation. The survey found that: The Fossilization large area exists and is in the first grade; in the use of vocabulary, oral expression, the highest rate of rigid. The author tries to cognitive factors, emotional factors, learning strategies, input and output, as well as learning English stagnant key factors aspects of the rigid complex reasons. The survey confirmed that vocational students learning English fossilization provide a reliable basis. According to the survey results of the analysis, the author on how to overcome this phenomenon are explored, and the theory of the Input Hypothesis, the output hypothesis constructivist theory as a guide, try to resolve this phenomenon from the point of view of teaching practice experimental and research aimed at finding a way out to resolve rigid phenomenon. The experiment lasted one semester, I selected two freshman class of 2,006 students participate in a rigid investigation as experimental subjects, teaching reform experiment in the experimental group under the guidance of the implementation of constructivist theory, comparative study. And classroom observation, questionnaires, interviews and testing forms a comprehensive analysis of the experimental results, the advances in the experimental group was significantly better than the control group, rigid phenomenon is gradually being overcome. Experimental results show that vocational students learning English in fossilization is temporary, constructivist theory under the guidance of a series of education reform measures are effective. On this basis, combined with a rigid survey results, the author proposes to create a good environment for language input, to reduce the Negative Transfer of Native to strengthen language output countermeasures to overcome and resolve rigid. Due to the experimental subject and time constraints, the experimental results have a common practical significance remains to be further study, but I hope that this study can open up some new ideas for the rigidities of some useful vocational English teaching inspiration.
