Abstract


In recent years, creep properties of UHMWPE has been more and more important. Although high polymer UHMWPE has the advantages of high strength and high modulus,it is easy to creep under the action of continuous force.It’s application in rope is confined.So, it has theoretical and practical significance to develop the creep resistance. This research selection ultraviolet irradiation, plasma processing and silane coupling agent method to modify the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fiber,in order to realize surface crosslinking. IR, SEM and creeping test were conducted to characterize the crossling linking structure and creeping properties of the UHMWPE fiber.The results show that the method of ultraviolet irradiation have the minimize damage to fiber’s performance, and have the best improvement in creep resistance; the best time of UHMWPE fiber swelling in the is 24 hours; at a certain concentration range, with the increasing concentration of crosslinker, UHMWPE fiber cross-linking effect of ultraviolet radiation getting better and better. Too high crosslinker concentration make the cross-linking effect getting worse; the best time of optimal UV irradiation time is 90min.
