Abstract


Ontology originated from philosophy field at first and acquires new definition assigned by AI field later with development of AI. Recently, Ontology plays an important role in solving Web information sharing and exchange in semantic level. Many development methods are proposed for Ontology modeling, but they are based on special fields and don’t have the support of mature method.At first, methods to deal with semantic conflict based on context and role concept are discussed in this paper, aiming at semantic confusion existed in Ontology constructing. And then, engineering methods of Ontology construction, based on role concept, are proposed from many references to the principle of software development in software engineering filed and applied in the development practice of study support system based on Ontology. The main contents are as follows:(1) Ontology analysis method based on role concept. Late 1970s, Role concept began to emerge in knowledge denotation and concept modeling in the computer field. The introduction of role concept in the concept modeling field is mostly used to solve such problems: the true and complex changes of denoted entity was captured, while maintaining their own identity. For example, when a student becomes a worker, his inbeing identity as a people is unchanged. In recent years, foreign researchers started to introduce the role concept to the Ontology modeling set. Practices show that the perfect role concept classification is the basis for constructing an excellent Ontology. But, the domestic similar practices and researches are still in the start-up phase, with very little literature.The latest research results of the role concept analysis theory in the Ontology construction is discussed synthetically based on referring to a large number of relevant information and documents, which consist of the interrelationship between and the classification of basic concept, role concept, role holder, and context, and the application methods of the role analysis theory in Ontology construction. The corresponding treatments for the cause of role concept confusion and semantic conflict in Ontology construction also are proposed in this paper.(2) An engineering procedure of establishing Ontology based on role concept is proposed by referring to successful experience of software development in software engineering filed and combining the characteristics of Ontology development. Considering that Ontology developments mostly are long-term evolutional process, it uses for references to antitype evolvement method in software engineering filed. Documental work in development process is emphasized, and lifecycle model and the standard of part of documents are provided.(3) A teaching Ontology involved in information technology course in middle school has been constructed applying the role-based concept proposed in item .(4) Course teaching Ontology is the kernel of an Ontology-based study supporting system. The work done in this paper takes an establishment of teaching Ontology of information technology in middle school as studying object.(5) An Ontology-based study supporting system of information technology course in middle school has been developed on the basis of constructing Ontology of information technology in middle school to provide effective teaching support for related teachers and students.
