Abstract


With the continuous opening of China’s Passenger Railway line and the putting into operation of CRH train, hardware infrastructure of railway transportation such as train’s running speed and traveling environment have been obviously improved. However, existing railway passenger service system, which reflects the soft environment of railway passenger transportation, cannot meet people’s demands on Railway enterprises service. Therefore, it is important for the railway department to build a new passenger service system to meet passenger’s comprehensive requirements. Otherwise, due to the rapid development of information technology, wireless local area network (LAN) technology which has the advantages of no wiring, high transmission rate and expansibility gradually becomes maturity, and all kinds of mobile intelligent terminal having wireless access function are increasingly popularized in people’s daily lives. Based on above background, this thesis applies wireless LAN technology with IEEE 802.11g standard to railway passenger service system to establish an opening railway passenger service information system, which can provide passenger comprehensive and humanized information service and entertainment service.The main content of this thesis is as follows. Firstly, based on the background of railway development, related studies about passenger service system at home and abroad are analyzed; and development tendency of passenger service system in the Western developed countries is also analyzed; and then research purpose and significance are described. Secondly, domestic existing passenger service system is analyzed in detail from the aspects of infrastructure, system structure and function; and then problems of the system are pointed out. Thirdly, wireless LAN technology is described in detail from the aspects of developing history, network standards, topology and technical characteristics; and then feasibility analysis for wireless LAN technology applied to passenger service system is carried out from three aspects of technology, economy and social benefit. Fourthly, based on above analysis and the practical organization of railway passenger transport, detailed business requirements and functional requirements of passenger service system are proposed, which gives design objectives for passenger service information system. Fifthly, combined with today’s advanced technology and wireless access technology, overall system design, detailed design and wireless access solution design for passenger service system are provided. Sixthly, based on the background of Chengdu Eastern passenger station, detailed setting steps of the wireless LAN and the process to get information through a wireless LAN for passenger are given in detail.
