Abstract


Objective: To analyze severe traumatic brain injury ( the SEVERE traumatic brain injury , acute phase serum sodium changes STBI ) patients after injury , strengthen patients with severe traumatic brain injury complicated by hypernatremia , especially serum sodium gt ; 160 mmol / L attention . Methods: A retrospective analysis of 82 patients with severe traumatic brain injury patients from July 2008 to December 2009 Glasgow Coma Score ( GCS ) ≤ 8 points after injury acute phase serum sodium changes to serum sodium lt ; 150 mmol / L, 150mmol / L lt; serum sodium lt ; 160 mmol / L , serum sodium gt ; 160 mmol / L , patients were divided into three groups , to compare the mortality rates of the three groups of patients . Results: 82 patients with severe traumatic brain injury patients , 50 cases were complicated with hypernatremia (60.9%) . The hypernatremia ≤ 160 mmol / L group of 20 patients , 9 deaths (45%) . The serum sodium gt ; 160 mmol / L group of 30 patients , 28 deaths (93.3%) . Hypernatremia occurred in patients 32 cases, 2 deaths (6.3%) , mortality rate between the two groups was statistically significant . Conclusion: The high incidence of hypernatremia in patients with severe traumatic brain injury , complicated by hypernatremia is death in patients with risk factors , serum sodium gt ; 160 mmol / L in patients with mortality in this study was 93.3 % , the survival of two cases vegetative state , should be highly valued. Clinical the serum sodium gt ; 160 mmol / L prompted patients with very poor prognosis .
