Abstract


The key element of medium-blocking-type sensor under constant pressure used for solid particle contamination level testing is the micro-pore filter membrane. Two kinds of methods to make the micro-pore filter membrane are studied, i.e., the bright copper plating in sulphate solution or electroless nickel-plating on 600# plain weave stainless steel wire meshes. By using the pre-treatment technique determined in this paper before plating, the micro-pore filter membranes with two kinds of plating layers and different plating time are obtained. An experimental data collecting system for DW1 contamination level tester based on Visual Basic 6.0 and Excel is developed, thus, the flowrate data coming from the filter membrane can be acquired and saved in real time. The blocking mechanism of the micro-pore filter membrane is discussed based on experimental study. It is concluded that the main role of solid particles during testing is to block the pores, and the whole testing process lies on the initial blocking moment of the micro-pore filter membrane, therefore, the blocking mechanism is standard pore blocking. Then, the contamination level testing model for the micro-pore filter membrane of 10μm×10μm is established, two pore blocking coefficients, f10 and f0’, are determined experimentally, and the methods of determining solid particle contributions in oil and contamination level of oil samples are given. At last, the repeatability and accuracy of the micro-pore filter membrane sensor are proved by experimental data.
