Abstract


Ian Hacking as a representative of the new experimentalism, he distinguished theory realism and entity realism, and put forward experimental realism. He researched on laboratory science and proposed "experiment has its own life" slogan, re-established the nature and the position of experiment. This article is a comprehensive and systematic study of Hacking’s experimental realism from the perspective of philosophy of scientific practice,the article is divided into five parts:Part one:The background of experimental realism. First, discuss scientific realism and anti-scientific realism debate, pave the way for experimental realism.Second, summarize the experimental study of the traditional philosophy of science and stress the importance of experimental realism.Part two:The theoretical construction of experimental realism. First, table Hacking’s entity reality position. Second, demonstrate the construction of experimental realism with the manipulability argument, the causal argument and the co-reference argument.Part three:Experimental basic problem investigation of experimental realism. First.explore the relationship of experiment.observation and theory,and then propose "experiment has its own life" slogen. Second.analy the laboratory science. Finally, interpret the important function of experiment is to create phenomenon.Part four:The question and exception of experimental realism.This part focuses on the difficulties encountered by the Hacking’s experimental realism, and Hacking and the author made the rebuttal and defense. Including McKinney’s criticism is caused by the polymerization of water experiment. scientist Reese Nick’s question, as well as other domestic and foreign scholars question.Part five:The evaluation of experimental realism. This part is the evaluation of experimental realism from an objective point of view. While experimental realism has deficiencies, such as too much emphasis on the independence of the experiment, as well as moderate interventionist but its contribution is enormous. Experimental realism, the philosophy of science to rediscover the nature and status of the experiment, the traditional theory of the priority of the philosophy of science played a corrective role, but also the formation of new experimentalism.
