Abstract

Many language study experts both from domestic and abroad have found students’learning effectiveness having close relationship with their own learning strategies by studying English learning process. Since the 1970s, many researchers of foreign language education have plenty of researches in foreign language learning strategies. A more reliable conclusion is that an effective use of foreign language learning strategies, can not only largely improve the method of learning foreign language, enhance the quality and effectiveness of learning, but also can reduce the burden of study. In addition, the training of learning strategies penetrates in teaching can promote students’ learning and reduce their learning difficulties. Most of our students from the suburb area, their learning attitudes, methods and habits all exist some problems. Most of students’English is poor and their English writing capacity is weak. And the writer wants to make an investigation on writing strategy among students so that the relation between writing strategy and grades can be found. Then, the writer can find some good ways to guide teaching writing.In order to achieve this goal, the writer makes an investigation on English writing strategies among junior high school students. At first, introduce the learning strategies and researcher’s studies on writing strategies both from home and aboard;then, introduce the problems, the objects, tools, procedures and data collection in the research design ; next, analyze the investigation results and have a discussion; finally, make a summary about the research and offer teaching proposals.During the research process, the writer mainly uses an investigation of writing strategies to know the use of students’English writing strategies. Next, the writer separately interviews not only writing high mark students and low grade students but also advanced teachers and ordinary teachers so that it is more reliable and comprehensive to collect the cause of students writing strategies situation.After investigation of students and interviews of teachers and students respectively, we get well known about the use of English writing strategies among junior high school students. Junior high school students use language strategies most frequently but they seldom use social emotional strategies. The reason is that both students and the teachers put memorizing words and sentences in the first place. Students hardly ever communicate their feeling about writing and they almost never exchange articles to learn from each other because teachers are under the high pressure of teaching and students are lack the spirits of cooperation.
