Numerical Simulation of the Hydrodynamic Behaviors of the Combined-type Square Sea Cage

Today, increasingly aggravated pollution along the coast brought about the sharp drop of the coastal fisheries resources, coupled with the incompletely resolved problem of the territorial sea of China and neighboring countries, making the situation of the traditional fishing industry even worse. Taking into account the sustainable development of fisheries and its own merits, now, cage aquaculture is more and more welcome by many farmers, making this farming method to be a trend. Square sea cage is a kind of deep-water gravity cage, not only can be farmed the fish which has some special requirements, but also combined into multiple cages, so it is gradually attracting people’s attention. Combined-cage on the one hand can improve the utilization of breeding waters, on the other hand can greatly improve the anti-wave ability of the breeding cage, therefore it will become an important development direction in the future.This paper consists of five parts. The first part is the introduction, a brief overview of the research background, the current state and progress at home and abroad, and the focus of the study of the grid square cage have been introduced. Secondly, describing the simulation method for many parts of grid square sea cage in detail, mainly comprising the net, float pipe, mooring rope, under frame and the float ball. Thirdly, comparing both results of the simulation and the model experiments of the cage with four-point anchored, after verifying the accuracy and precision of the mathematical model, it changed the four-point anchoring type into the grid-mooring type, and simulated both the single-cage and the double-cage under this mooring form, compared and analyzed the characteristics of both types. Then, the paper simulated a combination of pattern "YI" four-body combined square cage, analyzed the movement differences of four cages, and compare the simulation results with the double-cage type, consist of the forces, displacements and dip angle; Next, it simulated the combination of pattern "TIAN" four-body combined square cages, compared with the combination of pattern "YI" four-body combined square cage and analyzed the influence on hydrodynamic characteristics of different combinations. At last, it analyzed and summarized the main results of this paper, and prospected the future study on the hydrodynamic behaviors of the combined-type square cage.
