Abstract

Phenol is one of the most important chemical intermediates with higheconomical value, until now the demand of the phenol is still growing. Atpresent, phenol is basically produced by using the cumene method, whichconsists of three steps, produces acetone as a byproduct and pollutes theenvironment seriously. Oxidation of benzene to phenol by one step reactioncan be from raw materials to product, it has important scientific significanceand applicable prospects. In this paper, abundant and low price Hangjin2#clay(HJ500) from InnerMongolia was used as raw material to prepare catalyst. At first, Hangjin2#clay was modified by hydrochloric acid, obtaining sample of HJ500H. Then V/modified Hangjin2#clay catalyst (V∕HJ500H) using acid modified Hangjin2#clay (HJ500H) as the support was prepared by solvent evaporation method.Catalytic performance of the catalyst was evaluated using oxidation ofbenzene to phenol. The effect of loading amount of V,temperature, reactiontime, solvent, amount of H2O2, source of V on the catalytic performance ofthe V∕HJ500H catalyst were investigated. Finally, using the same method tothe preparation of catalysts of Me∕HJ500H-Cr、Mn、Fe、Co、Ni、Cu、Zn transition metal element as active component. Catalysts were characterizedby X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM),X-ray Flourescent(XRF), Fourier Transformation Infra-red Spectra(FT-IR).The experiments results show that, with Vanadium as active component, the catalyst of V∕HJ500H has excellent catalytic performance for oxidation ofbenzene to the phenol with H2O2. The optimized experimental conditions areas the following:0.2g catalyst of V/HJ500H with Vanadium loading amountof6%,50ml acetic acid as solvent, the dosage of benzene and H2O2was56mmol benzene,147mmol H2O2(30%), at60℃, reaction was carried out for2h under continuous stiring in the experiment process,18.8%benzene conversion was achieved with90.0%selectivity to phenol.
